Just a short drive from Anna Maria Island Condo Rentals – 601 Gulf Dr. N. Anna Maria Island, Fl 34217 – Cinco de Mayo or the 5th of May is a day to celebrate Mexican heritage and pride. The day is a national holiday in Mexico and here it’s a day to commemorate Mexican culture and heritage celebrate the day with family and friends. What better place to do it than right here on the Main Street of Bradenton, Florida.
Old Main Street (12th Street West) between Manatee and 3rd avenues is closed to vehicular traffic as vendors line the streets and live music plays throughout the night.
There will be events and parties at local restaurants, bars and pubs or buy food from food trucks on the street. Shop from the local merchants that set up shop along the street. Celebrate while listening to the local live music and dancing in the street.
Downtown Bradenton offers all sorts of indoor and outdoor fun. Some of the things you will find are: The South Florida Museum, a natural and cultural history museum which includes the Bishop Planetarium and Aquarium, a performing arts center, galleries, boutiques, restaurants, Village of the Arts and The Riverwalk.
Take a along Bradenton’s beautiful Riverwalk.The Riverwalk is a free multi-use trail overlooking the Manatee River. You will see a great mix of people, cyclists, skaters, runners, fisherman and walkers. Watch the talented skateboarders that are at the Riverwalk Skatepark, one of the best free skateparks in the area. There are Beach volleyball courts and a playground and water sprinklers at Rossi Park where we always see lots of families enjoying time with their little ones.The park is very modern and accommodates kids of various ages- no traditional swings or monkey bars, but still enjoyable. There are a few restaurants and an ice cream parlour along the Riverwalk as well as benches, lounge chairs and swings. There are shaded Outdoor Living Rooms furnished with comfortable seating. The Riverwalk is a peaceful place to relax and enjoy a view of the river and only minutes to Historic Old Main Street.
Plan to come early and enjoy any of the above sites before heading over to the Cinco de Mayo celebration on Old Main Street.
