Advantages of Renting a VACATION Home Over a Hotel-Anna Maria Island Condo Rentals

Vacation rental homes are accommodations that you can rent directly from owners. How do you choose and how we can help?
Our first piece of advice is to plan accordingly and intentionally. Be specific about your needs. We all work hard for our vacations, make sure your accommodations work for you.
Next, book your vacation direct. Booking directly from a property owner rather than through an online booking site will probably save you a substantial amount of money. In the last couple of years, the big online travel agencies have instituted higher commissions from the rental managers and also started charging the travellers. Also when you work directly with the owner it makes for a far more personal experience. Once you have secured your booking with the property owner there are no hidden charges, you will know exactly what your cost will be with no surprise fees later.
Lastly, vacation rental owners will work with your budget, family size, preferences and your personal needs to make your decision to rent a vacation home easier.
Here are a few comparisons between vacation home rentals and hotels —
anna-maria-island-beach-sands-anna-maria-island-condo-rentals
AMENITIES — You will find conveniences and amenities at hotels and vacation rental homes. But, vacation homes are homes not just rooms. They include things you expect to find at home. For anyone that loves to cook a kitchen is first and foremost. Some guests enjoy eating out, but want the option to cook some meals in. A vacation rental property provides the convenience of cooking and is cost effective for families on a budget. When children are involved, nothing beats a kitchen. Kids always seem to be hungry and having a spot to make an early morning breakfast or a bedtime snack is crucial for everyone’s vacation happiness. Then there are the times the kids are tired and crabby. Or, us adults are tired and crabby. Sometimes we want to save a few dollars and a kitchen comes in handy. For some a kitchen is a necessity and to do without is not an option. With a hotel stay, dining out and not having to food shop or clean up can be convenient, but it comes at a cost. Full sized appliances, washer and dryer are usually available and included in the cost at rental homes and allow families the luxury of not having to take home a week or more of dirty clothes. Any hotels we have stayed in charge for any laundering services. Parking and Wi-Fi can cost extra at a hotel, but are standard with most vacation rentals. Rental homes often feature gourmet kitchens, luxury linens, big screen televisions with hundreds of channels, pools, outdoor grill with kitchens and more. All these amenities make for a much more comfortable vacation.
anna-maria-island-beach-sands-anna-maria-island-condo-rentals
PRICE — For anyone looking to book a vacation, price is usually a major consideration. If you are a solo traveler and are looking for a short simple, inexpensive stay, a hotel is an option. Another option is a vacation rental studio apartment which is typically cheaper than a hotel with the added convenience of a kitchenette. For those budget minded this option provides the advantage of cooking some or all of your meals in which can be a huge savings.
For families, the vacation rental option is almost always less in price then what you would pay at a hotel. The longer the stay at a vacation house rental, the nightly cost could average out to be less than the average hotel night’s stay. Cost savings can also be found in a vacation rental with a kitchen that allows guests to cook meals rather than eating at restaurants. For those travelling with your parents, other extended family members and friends you would be looking at two or more hotel rooms verses one rental. Between the expense of eating out and having to book two (or more) rooms to accommodate everyone, you can blow most of your budget. A home rental is almost always more cost effective.
anna-maria-island-condo-rentals
SIZE & SPACE — How much space will your party need? Your answer will determine your family needs and will be a key decider as to whether a vacation rental or hotel room is what you want. It is worth noting that an average hotel room is 325 square feet while an average vacation home gives you more than 1100 square feet. A long-term stay in a hotel room when your party is larger than two people doesn’t usually make for a happy stay. When it comes to square footage, vacation rentals are usually your best bet. A hotel room generally offers a king/queen or two double beds and one bathroom.  If you’re lucky, you will get a dorm-room fridge and a tiny coffee maker. Often the fridge is stocked by the hotel so there is not room for your personal drinks or food. Vacation rentals vary widely, but for a similar price to a single hotel room you’ll generally get two bedroom, two bathrooms, a living room, and a kitchen. All of our units have laundry facilities and are fully stocked. The kitchen comes with all the dishes, silverware, pots and pans that you will need to prepare and serve meals.  This is huge for most travellers. Many hotels do offer 2- and 3-bedroom options with small kitchenettes, however they tend to be quite pricey. For a family of three or four a one or two bedroom condo rental will give you the space you need. For large groups a multi-bedroom house with a full kitchen, multiple bathrooms and a living space is a great option. Families could save money by vacationing with a large group in a rental house, which allows the cost to be split. Consider too, the benefits of shared space when traveling with friends or extended family. Would you choose to crowd into someone’s hotel room and play a board game on someone’s bed or would you rather spend time as a group in a living room, dining area or kitchen?
anna-maria-island-condo-rentals
PRIVACY — Vacation home offers more privacy than a hotel. For people who like having their own space, hotel rooms are not very inviting. Housekeeping coming and going, thin walls, elevator and HVAC noise, crowded pools. With a vacation rental you set the schedule. Sleep when you like, eat when you like and no worrying about the housekeeping schedule. If you want some quality family bonding time and don’t want the intrusion of tourists then you should rent a vacation home. Even with a vacation home rental your children have plenty of opportunity to meet and make new friends at the beach or at any public attractions.
anna-maria-island-condo-rentals
LOCAL LIFE — Another positive aspect of using vacation rentals is the opportunity to enjoy a more authentic experience instead of being isolated behind the doors of a hotel.  When you go the vacation rental route, you act less like a tourist and more like a resident.  You won’t be dependent on restaurants, will be more likely to grocery shop and cook. When you shop with the locals, you have the opportunity to talk to the locals. A vacation rental property is homey. When you walk out of your front door, you might pass neighbours and engage in conversation. These are regular folks heading to work or maybe like you heading to the beach. These people are a good source for information and will probably be happy to answer any questions you might have about the community. Choosing vacation rentals allows you an inside view into the local lifestyle, culture and architecture that you might otherwise miss. A hotel? You’re surrounded only by other tourists and hotel staff.

Beautiful Condo Right on the Beach
Left on Aug 30, 2018 for a stay in Aug 2018
My family and I stayed at this condo and it was amazing. From the moment you walk in for the first time, you are taken back by the beauty this unit has to offer. Everything from the floor to the paint on the walls has been renovated and updated. It was so enjoyable to visit this condo. It offers the best views on the beach with an outside deck and a master overlooking the ocean. The unit itself had everything you needed to have a great time on the beach and to just relax and enjoy being on island time. The condo is also close to so many things to do on the island, plenty of places to eat, shop and do adventures, walking distance. There is also a free bus trolley which will drive you around the island so you never have to worry about anything and getting home safe. The best part of this place are the owners, Terry is very easy to work with and super accommodating. He told us the best places to eat, where the locals go! And gave us everything we needed to have the perfect vacation. Couldn’t say enough good things about this place, definitely will be making a return trip and highly recommend anyone wanting the perfect get away to book this unit.My Response:

Hi Evan,

Thank you for the awesome review and thank you again for being our guests. It has been a pleasure working with you and we look forward to having you as our guests again on Anna Maria Island.

Sincerely,

Terry, Sandy & Family

It lets you focus on the gorgeous landscape that makes Anna Maria Island so special and takes the worry out of driving and trying to find available parking. Anna Maria Island Free Trolley service travels the entire island. The trolley runs daily beginning at 6:00 am at 20 minute intervals until 9:00 pm then every 30 minutes until 10:30 pm. Trolley stops are 2-4 blocks apart. They are well marked, look for a green sign with a Trolley on it.
Another free and fun means of transportation is the “Monkey Bus.”  It really is not free, but a tip for service operation. It is a great way to get around the island and they operate fairly late. As well, they can seat any number of passengers from their 8 passenger golf cart to their mini bus.  They can be reached at 941 565-6542.

NEW FLIGHTS TO SARASOTA-BRADENTON AIRPORT (SRQ)

With Low Fares to High Demand Destinations
The Sarasota/Bradenton International airport is one of my favourite airports. It is convenient, only 15 minutes from Anna Maria Island Condo Rentals-601 Gulf Dr. N. Anna Maria Island, Florida 34217, but that’s only one reason I love SRQ. This airport is so inviting with its friendly and welcoming staff. It is small, modern, clean, with comfortable seating and Free strong/super fast wi-fi. The airport is easy to navigate which for me completely takes away the dread associated with large airports. The baggage area is easy to find and the car rentals are in the same area. These last two are both very favourable considerations, especially if your vacation leave is only one week. Less time spent travelling, means more time spent enjoying the reason that you are here, your vacation.
frontier-airline-anna-maria-island-condo-rentals
So what’s not to love about SRQ? Some travellers complain that there are very few airlines that fly into SRQ and those airlines that do, require a transfer or stopover along the way. The limited number of restaurants and stores and their early closing hours, with some not open on the weekends. Another complaint is that there are not enough low budget airlines to book flights with.
frontier-anna-maria-island-condo-rentals
Well, flying into the Sarasota/Bradenton airport (SRQ) just got easier as well as less expensive. Frontier Airline recently announced they will be offering direct, non-stop flights from Atlanta beginning December 10, 2018. Flights between Sarasota Bradenton International Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport will be offered three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. As an added bonus to this already great news, Frontier is offering special introductory fares as low as $39 each way!
frontier-anna-maria-island-condo-rentals
This is the latest in a series of new destinations offered via budget airlines. Earlier this year, SRQ and Frontier announced new non-stop flights to Cleveland and to Philadelphia. Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport and Frontier Airlines will provide the service to Cleveland and Philadelphia beginning in December. The flights to Philadelphia International Airport begin on December 10, 2018 with flights offered Mondays and Fridays. In April of this year, Allegiant launched its first Sarasota routes, flying to Pittsburgh, Indianapolis and Cincinnati.
allegiant-airlines-anna-maria-island-condo-rentals
Since the addition of Allegiant and Frontier to the airport this year, traffic numbers are increasing. According to airport authorities July saw a 30 percent increase in passenger traffic, with a 23 percent increase in June, and a 16 percent increase in May. So, what will SRQ do to keep up with this increased traffic flow? The airport authority has authorized the expenditure of $228,501, plus a 10 percent contingency, to install 148 more feet of baggage belt in three locations in the terminal. Also, airport officials are beginning to think about overflow parking this winter and the long-term possibility of adding a parking garage. With the growth of SRQ airport bringing in increased revenue to area businesses I’m sure we will be hearing news of many improvements over the next few years.
Recent Yelp Reviews —
  1. What a great airport! I always think the small ones have the best customer service, since they’re not nearly as busy as the large ones. This airport is super clean & that includes the bathrooms – which is always a plus! The women’s restrooms come with an additional shelf for your purse or bag – which is ALWAYS appreciated :)There’s a small selection of places to eat/drink past security. But it’s sufficient and does include a Starbucks! Gates have lots of charging stations in the seating area so you aren’t searching for a place to plug in (or have to sit on the floor in the corner). Ride-sharing is clearly labeled so if you need an Uber or Lyft it won’t be complicated to find where to go. And there are plenty of people waiting to pick you up so you won’t wait forever in the heat. Overall, I love flying in here – stress free & clean!
  2. It’s got everything you need for a tiny airport – 1 coffee shop & a restaurant before security and the same on the other side.  As someone who use to fly every week for 5 years, this little airport is growing but still super easy to get in and out of.  Only way to make it better would be the parking shuttles frequency but so long as it isn’t raining ya a very easy walk. Overall very clean and friendly airport
  3. Very small airport yet so simple. Time frame from entrance to boarding gate was about 40 minutes. Air mall is practically non existant. There is a Starbucks and one bar which included very little seating. Overall it went smoothly
  4. Tiny airport, no lounges, very limited eating and drinking options, but very helpful staff from check-in to boarding.
  5. This is a great airport, easy in and out. Now parking is even better since the addition of the covered area.

Beautiful Condo Right on the Beach⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

 Left on Aug 30, 2018 for a stay in Aug 2018 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My family and I stayed at this condo and it was amazing. From the moment you walk in for the first time, you are taken back by the beauty this unit has to offer. Everything from the floor to the paint on the walls has been renovated and updated. It was so enjoyable to visit this condo.
Anna-Maria-Island-Beach-Sands-Condo
This condo offers the best views on the beach with an outside deck and a master overlooking the ocean.

Couldn’t say enough good things about this place, definitely will be making a return trip and highly recommend anyone wanting the perfect get away to book this unit.

Hop on the Northbound Trolley to Pine Avenue and you’re there.

There is some neighborhood street parking available, but please read the signs CAREFULLY. Make sure they indicate that parking is permitted and if you are lucky enough to find a spot, be sure you park with all four tires off the roadway and sidewalks, and with the direction of traffic.
You can also park offsite at Crosspointe Fellowship Church, 8605 Gulf Drive on the north end of Holmes Beach. There will be a free dedicated trolley shuttling people directly from the church to the City Pier at the end of Pine Avenue.

The Island Players community theatre is one of the many gems and a must visit while you vacation with Anna Maria Island Condo Rentals – 601 Gulf Dr. N. Anna Maria Island, Florida 34217. It is a beautifully maintained little theatre with lots of history. The building was originally a family home in Palmetto and was relocated to its present site. The staff and volunteers from the box office to the stage manager and actors clearly love what they do and it shows. The Unexpected Gift, is a detective and murder fiction, a compelling tale that is sure to entertain. Filled with mystery and suspense it begins with a stranger lost in the fog who seeks refuge in a nearby house. He finds a dead man and his wife standing over him with a smoking gun. The woman’s confession is not convincing, but the unexpected guest decides to help. Police clues create a tangled web of lies revealing family secrets and chilling motives, a Pandora’s Box of loves, jealousies and hates. Labor-Day-anna-maria-island-condo-rentals

LABOUR DAY SEPTEMBER 3, 2018 FIREWORKS – ANNA MARIA ISLAND

Labor Day is right around the corner and you and your family members staying on fabulous Anna Maria Island won’t want to miss the fireworks show hosted by the Sandbar Restaurant.
We are all familiar with the whizzes and whoops as fireworks screech up into the night sky. For firework lovers there is nothing more exciting than a spectacular firework display at the Sandbar Restaurant with plenty of affects and an array of colour.
The Sandbar had complaints and displeased attendees after a disappointing Firework show on July 4th of this year. According to the Sandbar events operation manager, Jim Harwood, the team Creative Pyrotechnics, hired by the Sandbar lacked experienced staff and fireworks. The same company have offered to do it right on Labour Day and everyone is hopeful that it will be every bit as good as the Sandbar’s years past fireworks displays.
Labor-Day-anna-maria-island-condo-rentals
Bring a blanket, beach towel or beach chairs and enjoy the show for free from the sand. Seating at the restaurant is first come, first served.
There are several ways to travel from Anna Maria Island Condo Rentals – 601 Gulf Dr. N. Anna Maria Island, Florida 34217 to the Sandbar. There is the free Island trolley service with a trolley stop right out front of your door on Gulf Drive. You can consider the Island Beach Monkeys, the monkey bus which is a tip only service. If you choose to drive to the Sandbar please keep in mind that parking is limited, making it my last choice of transportation.
Whatever your means of transportation, come out and enjoy a waterfront breeze while marveling at the fantastic bursts of color. What a great way to celebrate the “unofficial end of summer” at this free community fireworks celebration.

ANNA MARIA ISLAND RED TIDE UPDATE

Sandy and I walked the beach from the Moose Lodge to the Manatee Public Beach and back today, we walked for about 90 minutes and then sat on the beach for another hour. Was there a smell of red tide in the air? Yes. Was it a very slight smell? Yes. Did we cough once? No. Is the water a brown colour along the shoreline? Yes. Is it horrible? No. What did we witness? People enjoying the beach. Families with children enjoying the beach. Kids playing in the water and on the beach. People sunning themselves and sleeping on the beach. Jet skies and boats in the Gulf. Did we see one person regardless of age or gender covering their mouth and nose with anything? Not a chance. There were no news agencies on the beach looking for the biggest pile of dead fish and reporting from the scene because we did not see one dead fish in the water or on the beach. We did see a few dead crabs and one dead stingray. I guess good news is no news because they are no where to be found. We had to come up from the beach at 3:00pm because the rain moved in or we would still be out there now. Fortunately all these people and their families did not get the memo the world is coming to an end or they would have missed a beautiful day at the beach.
