Where To Stay On Anna Maria Island – Guest reviews – A Very Special Thank You To John & Clare For Their Awesome Review

“Excellent Value”

Hi Terry and Sandy,

We really enjoyed our stay at your Anna Marie Island condo unit #110. . We were impressed with the spacousness, tasteful furniture and decor, the wall hangings were especially nice, and the whole place was bright and new. There were way more accessories than we needed or used, but we noticed that all were of high quality and very nice….even the beach chairs!. We especially liked the location on a quiet side street with easy access across to our “almost private” beach , and we spent several days there.

We became regulars at the Kokonut Beach bar and liked the fact that we could easily walk there and back after a few pops. We also tried out SandBar, Harbor House, Skinney’s, 2 or 3 at Bridge Street, and several others…I think the only one we missed was Rod & Reel..

We also enjoyed the heated pool, and swam and visited with several other snowbirds and permanent residents. You folks have a very nice place there and Thank You for making it nice for us.

The only suggestions we would make would be a few throw rugs inside the door and balcony entrances to help trap sand before it gets in….and maybe a small table for drinks and snacks on the balcony. We enjoyed sitting out on the balcony and having wine and cheese . We don’t have any plans to return to Florida within the next year, but will certainly be back next time.

JOHN & CLARE NICOL

Thank you John & Clare from Anna Maria Island Condo Rentals – 601 Gulf Dr. N. Bradenton Beach, Fl 34217

What To Do On Anna Maria Island – Helicopter trips – Helicopter Sightseeing Tours

What better way to see the beautiful turquoise waters of Sarasota Bay and the scenic Gulf of Mexico beaches then with a helicopter ride.

We found Heli-Aviation on line and are so glad we chose them for our tour. They offer many packages and impressed us with their total commitment to our safety and their pleasant customer service. They have a varied selection of flight tour options to choose from – The Romantic Tour, Downtown Tour, Ultimate Beach Tour and Sunset Tour to name a few.

We chose the Ultimate Beach Tour. Our tour departed from the Sarasota Airport which is only a 15 minute drive from our condos – Anna Maria Island Condo Rentals – located at 601 Gulf Dr. N. Bradenton Beach, Fl 34217

To describe the professionalism of this company and our fabulous experience in one word, AMAZING! Dee was fantastic with arranging our tour over the phone. When we arrived we were greeted by the Owner, followed by a walk through of their meticulously clean hangar with uniformed support personnel in abundance and then an awesome and inspirational tour by “Trip”. We could not have asked for a more personable and knowledgeable pilot than Trip. He was always very accommodating, several times circling back to show us some dolphin or manatee in the water.
We have wanted to cross this off our bucket list and cruising over our beautiful Anna Maria Island from the sky was the perfect way to do it.

The price was very reasonable, comparable to a fine dinner anywhere in town, but these memories we will share for a lifetime.

We highly recommend this and wonder why we didn’t do it sooner. A fabulous experience, we will be back!

Where to eat and drink in annamariaisland – Late night places – “THE DOCTORS OFFICE” IS CALLING

Literally located in a former doctor’s office, this cocktail lounge is a fun gathering spot for Gen Xers and up. Cute decor, keeping with the Doctors theme, but not overdone. Seating is mostly high bar stools in intimate groupings. Lots of island special cocktails. We find most of the restaurants on Anna Maria Island are closed by 10:00 pm, The Doctors Office is a nice option open nightly from 5 pm to midnight serving cocktails as well as great bar fare.

We were able to snag a seat at the first table upon entry, the perfect seat to see everyone coming and going-interesting, indeed! Industrial bar stools surround the bar and the original waiting room looks like it must have looked back in the day-except patrons sitting in them are sipping cocktails. Our friendly and helpful waitress immediately greeted us with a snack of potato chips and a mini sized ‘punch of the day’, which was a unique blend of a smoky tequila, orange flavored liquor and a few other things. She explained the remnants of various bottles combined, makes a different punch each day. The menus are modelled after a list of prescriptions and the history of the owner, Sean Murphy, appears on the cover. A fun read, which sets the stage for an enjoyable visit.

The Doctors Office is a great cocktail bar for grownups with imaginative house cocktails and an interesting menu serving chef crafted small plates. The bar offerings highlight local craft beers and excellent wine bar selections.

The bar artisans create cocktails with fresh juices and original mixers, deliberately avoiding pre-canned additives and manufactured mixes.

Cocktails are supported by an abundant selection of artisan crafted spirits from every category– crafted bourbons, ryes and gins, rums and vodkas.

The Doctor Recommended list boasts an array of local citrus based Vitamin C Prescriptions – the “Corpse Reviver or a “Papa Hemingway”. The serious cocktail fan might order the “Penicillin,” or a “Mai Tai Roa Ae”.

Order some pain relief and mood adjustment, there’s the “Boulevarier,” or a “Chet Baker”.

The tapa style bar food menu compliments the bar list and includes a tasty array of crafted Cheeses, Charcouterie and small plates and sandwiches.

The Doctors Office is a welcome addition to the Anna Maria Island dining scene.

This place is just what the doctor ordered!

What To See On Anna Maria Island – News – NO CAR NEEDED…TRAVEL BY WATER — SARASOTA TO BRADENTON

10/26/2017

Exciting news! – – The Sarasota Bradenton Ferry water taxi service will be launching in early 2018. The service will connect downtown Sarasota, Anna Maria Island and downtown Bradenton.

The ability to provide this innovative service has been exclusively permitted to the Sarasota Bradenton Ferry Company. With the approval by all municipalities concerned, key officials see this as an economic opportunity for the region and hope to see a much need reduction to traffic. The drive between Sarasota and Bradenton Beach (Anna Maria Island) can take approximately 35 to 40 minutes without traffic, but the commute by water is expected to take just 28 minutes.

The Sarasota Bradenton Ferry Co. plans to launch its first 149-passenger vessel to provide transportation from the 10th Street Pier in downtown Sarasota, Bradenton Beach Bridge Street Pier and the Bradenton Riverwalk.

We are really excited about this new service for our guests. To catch the Ferry at the Bradenton Beach City Street Pier is only a five minute walk from Anna Maria Island Condo Rentals located at 601 Gulf Dr. N. Bradenton Beach 34217.

The ferry will work for commuters, locals and tourists. To begin, the group will operate one boat with plans for 30 daily voyages in the future. As of now the vessel will run all day, but a final schedule is still being worked on. The company wants all riders to feel comfortable and be able to depend on their schedule. They have set up a Facebook account and website. Their website displays a survey for residents and visitors of the Sarasota-Bradenton area with a goal to allow input from the community and to start building local relationships.

The Ferry is all been about community needs: expanding options, alleviating gridlock and providing convenience or leisure. They plan to release updates on Facebook between now and their anticipated 2018 launch, which will include ways for the community and its leaders to get more involved. Because of the scale of this marine operation the company is taking a careful approach, working with local conservation organizations as well as the U.S. Coast Guard. This will ensure the launch of the safest and most environmentally friendly use of waterways for transportation.

There are concerns being voiced about very few parking spaces available for cars at the boat ramps. The ferry company is working with ride sharing companies and local free-rides to solve the issue. They hope more employees travelling to work will take advantage of the ferry.

Only time will tell. As owners on Anna Maria Island we are very excited and can’t for this ferry service to be up and running.

10/25/2017

A Very Special Thank You To The Murphy Family For Their Awesome Review.

IT WAS OUR PLEASURE TO HAVE SHARON AND HER FAMILY AS OUR GUEST FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR ON ANNA MARIA ISLAND AT “THE BEACH SANDS CONDO”

Great, Wow!!!

The Beach Sands Condo!!!

601 Gulf Drive North,
Bradenton Beach, FL, 34217, United States
Date of Stay
Feb 10, 2017
Helpful votes: 10/10

When they say right on the beach, they are not fooling. Get up in the morning and in two seconds you are walking on the beach. The sand on the beach feels and looks like flour. I still can’t get over how wonderful it felt. The condo has all the latest from kitchen to bedroom. Great just sitting in the comfortable chair and looking out at the water. I have been twice and plan on going back. You really should rent it. Honest!!

What To Do On Anna Maria Island – Sailing – SAILING ON ANNA MARIA ISLAND

SAILING ON ANNA MARIA ISLAND

This is something we have always planned to do on one of our visits to Anna Maria Island and this year we finally did it. We wanted to rent a boat that we could sail without a captain. We found Bimini Bay Sailing and rented a very stable, yet exciting WindRider 17 Trimaran. We were given initial instruction on how to operate and then set off into the Bay for four hours. Surrounded by dolphins, manatees and abundance of natural life it was an unforgettable experience, we can’t wait to do it again!

Laid-back and natural, Anna Maria Island – a seven-mile strip of beautiful white-sand beaches at the southern mouth of Tampa Bay. Nestled between the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico to the west and Tampa Bay on the Eastern shore, Anna Maria Island has charm to spare because of its congenial air of unhurried casual living. The three small municipalities on the island each have their own character, from Bradenton Beach in the south, Holmes Beach in the center of the island and the city of Anna Maria in the north. Bimini Bay Sailing is located in the city of Anna Maria.

Brian at Bimini Bay Sailing has a variety of boats that will work for one person or for the whole family for your sailing adventure. They have several WindRider 17 Trimarans and also a great assortment of fun-to-sail sailboats. They do private and group lessons at all skill levels.

All of their boats are beach-launched sailboats so come prepared with your water shoes and swimwear. Enjoy the view of the Sunshine Skyway, Anna Maria Island and St. Pete as you take lessons or sail alone on the beautiful waters of South West Tampa Bay.

Captain Brian is great, and if you want to learn to sail, he is the one you want. To reserve by phone, call Brian at (941) 685-1400

Don’t forget to bring your hat, water shoes, food/drink (no glass bottles), sunscreen, swimwear and towels.

While visiting us on Anna Maria Island consider renting a boat where you can relax and enjoy the beauty that surrounds you.

Where To Eat And Drink On Anna Maria Island – Gourmet goodness – Poppo’s Taqueria-Ann Maria Island

10/20/2017

CASUAL DINING – dine in or food-to-go

POPPO’S TAQUERIA — 212 C Pine Avenue, Anna Maria

From Anna Maria Island Condo Rental get on the free trolley at 3N and get off at trolley stop 2N. Click here for the Anna Maria Island free trolley schedule.

Poppo’s is a fantastic little Mexican food place similar to a Chipotle style restaurant, albeit with a great deal more charm and much better food. Poppo’s is notable for the fact that it is part of a small family-owned chain; there are three other nearby locations in the Bradenton area.

Poppo’s sits in a small, cute strip center along Pine Avenue with several other adjacent businesses all connected with a wide wooden boardwalk. The wooden floors continue into the restaurant, which has a fun and casual atmosphere and decor. On the right sits a big wooden bar where you can order from a selection of good, local craft beers, as well as wines. A large flat screen TV sits at the back wall of the bar. On the left side of the space is where you order your food and non-bar drinks – the bottled sodas and beers sit in large coolers filled with ice. All menus are written on giant chalkboards, and while there are standard items you can get, the real fun is in the “build your own” burritos, tacos, bowls, etc. Like that they had a small and large size bowl. They make the tortillas fresh on the spot with a press out of some dough balls so you know the tortilla you get is perfect every time. The quesadillas and burritos were all amazing, also loved the gourmet popsicles!

All of the ingredients sit in large trays, and you simply go down the line, loading your creation with protein/meats, beans, rice, veggies, salsa, sour cream, onions, guacamole, cilantro, etc. All the ingredients are local, fresh, high quality, and delicious. Not to be missed are the chips and salsa – you have to ask for them first if you want them, and each order of chips is made for you fresh. Fresh tortillas and the salsa are fantastic. Quesadillas and burritos are amazing!

At mealtimes, this place can have a line out the door, but the service is efficient, and it moves quickly. We discovered that they take Apple Pay and have to say, that really is a nice convenience. As long as you’re carrying your phone, you’re covered for your meal.

There is very little inside seating – two small tables and possibly ten seats at the bar. But, why would you want to sit inside? This is Anna Maria Island 🙂 A variety of funky tables and chairs are set up around the boardwalk outside. You can order your food “to go”, or do what we do and enjoy eating outside and taking in the local scene. Totally casual, you and your family can come straight from the beach, still in t-shirts, swim trunks, flip-flops and sunscreen.
Enjoy!
